If it means anything, I've never seen Big Trouble, but this game interests me on the strength of what was good about Secrets of the Lost Tomb (not enough to drop $100 sight unseen, but still).Find an in-network doctor, dentist, or facility This seems to take what worked well from it and take out the hassle and messier elements. Tombs was covered in text and modifiers and d6 rolls. ![]() ![]() This seems to lean into being Eldritch-based instead, but from the same core. It's been streamlined into essentially just XP.īasically, Tombs was closest to Betrayal but had Eldritch mechanics in it. Courage was a number that went up/down and it could either give negative effects if too low or positives at the high end. I would assume it works similarly here, but "Fate Dice" also seem to do something like this for this game.Ĭondition cards seem about the same - just cards you get as reminders of a status on you.Ĭhi seems like a reworking of Courage from Tomb. They mention "audacity." This was a mechanic in Tomb where you could spend it to get rerolls or die modifiers. So skews closer to Eldritch Horror Mythos cards. This is flavor text with an effect and then monster spawn (which looks to work how Tomb's did). Simpler and more flavorful upkeep phase - Tomb's was one card draw with a "thematic" name but nothing else and then procedural stuff. Obviously a fixed map for the setting instead of dungeon tile draw. ![]() Simpler fight mechanic Tomb's was pretty unwieldy despite being all one roll to resolve.Ĭustom dice actions instead of Action Points pool This seems to take some systems from it and streamline it down heavily. Secrets of the Lost Tomb is fun, but it's kind of a mess. That game itself borrowed most heavily from Eldritch Horror and Betrayal at House on the Hill. It seems to borrow some from Secrets of the Lost Tomb, this company's first game. ![]()
